Printed material is as important today as it ever was. However much information you provide or receive through the web, you can't beat a well printed document on decent paper for impact and clarity -- vital for corporate and promotional items at one end of the scale, and for technical data at the other.
But pulling it all together is not always the easiest thing to do. On the one hand it needs a broad vision (if that's not putting it too strongly) to take an overview of the whole document -- even if it's only a few pages -- properly defining its purpose and ensuring that it's quickly understood by the reader.
On the other hand there must be a finicky attention to detail when it comes to typesetting and laying out the various elements on the page. Often it's only at the page layout stage that all the details can be finalised -- everything interacts, and the text and graphics and photos can't just be shoehorned into the page.
Ideally your designer will be well versed in all the different areas.
In between there's a bundle of other tasks that need to be attended to. Engineering drawings, for example, generally need to be 'prettied up' if they're going to appear in a brochure. You probably have some of the photos but not all of them; or they'll need to be adjusted to look their best. And there's that darned copywriting (why is writing so difficult for most of us?).
If you wish, Diafade can handle it all -- conceive the design, write the copy, take photographs, create illustrations and artwork, and manage the print (we use just a few printers that we know and trust). You deal with one company, receive one invoice. Or we can use your photos, edit your text and deliver artwork to your printer.
We send artwork to clients in the USA and mainland Europe via the Internet, with PDF files for proofing.
